Dire vs radiant
-
Just realised the amount of times we've been getting Dire recently - Dire winrate also way worse than Radiant...conspiracy theory gaben hates us and doesn't want us to win
-
It is actually worse than I thought at the minute, not sure why. https://www.dotabuff.com/heroes/meta?view=played&metric=faction

Not sure either, Radiant has always been higher WR for factors that we're too bad to exploit I think, but Dire used to have the huge Rosh advantage that negated things slightly, right?
But my overall WR is like 53% rad and 49.5% Dire, pretty big diff.

The obvious point also is that Radiant feels way better to play with the camera angle, but I doubt that accounts for much

Radiant offlane is probably my favourite lane to play in overall. The pulls are easy and it just feels very open compared to Dire offlane. For example if the safelane pulls the big camp and you try to contest as Dire offlane you often feel further from the tower and lane than if you contest the big camp pull on Radiant offlane. To a point where I almost never see the Dire safelane try to do that pull, as it tends to just work out as a gift for the offlaners.
(I think I got it all correct but it is admittedly confusing to talk about the same lane as Dire safelane and Radiant offlane in the same sentence).
Which is probably enough to shift the game, even if it only indirectly affects e.g. mid.

Not just some amateur thing either, over the last month Radiant has over 55% winrate in pro games: https://www.opendota.com/explorer?minDate=2020-09-02T22%3A00%3A00.000Z&side=&group=side&select=kills

My last three games have been losses on Dire, just saying #matchfixing

No joke this actually gnaws at me a bit, that kind of lopsided statistics should cause a very fast patch. It is not a huge gap, but it is entirely uncontrollable and one-sided in a way e.g. MKB and Sven being good is not.

gap getting bigger in fact!
