That last game
-
We were actually far more substantially behind than I thought at the time:
Good on us keeping it together as much as we did.
Very late there we were 20k behind, but I think we all already had the sense there that the gold difference had stopped mattering much.
-
Not to relitigate it too much, but I was a bit surprised to find that the fight at Radiant secret shop was actually a bit of a throw despite the pressure we were under due to overall timings:
The Echo looked really good though so it was easy to imagine the fight going well, with 20/20 hindsight should probably have waited for terrorize to be back up from the last fight, we got PA the gold needed for a BKB there, which got very hard to handle. Oh well~
-
Us somehow managing solid teamfights was indeed needed that game, we were almost 20k behind a team running 4 midases:
Rare and good that we managed to be resolute and quick into a team with a bunch of big cooldowns though.
(granted the 4 midases also means that close to half of that advantage was in dead items, but wasn't an option to not fight at any rate.)
-
I don't think there was ever much of an argument as it was a small comment, but Puppey indeed went (in DreamLeague, started today) the same skill build I did on Abaddon today:
Agreed though that for pushing one can probably call for an early point in Curse, and indeed pushing was the main issue we ran into. More interesting is getting backed up on maxing Coil, 2-2-0 seems obvious, but going into 4-2-0-1 is not necessarily obvious.
-
Depends on how much mana you have access to and how badly you need the purge. They scale about equally on damage mitigation/heal, but coil has half the mana cost. Having shield on a six second cooldown at level 7 is incredibly good with some hero combinations however.
One of the hidden features of a value point in curse is that enemies become scared when you start hitting them.
-
You know you had a stomp going when you get this one:
-
Shouldn't post just the stupidest stomps, but the stupid stomps are funny. Also Bob ('s skeletons) did most of the building damage, I just sniped the last-hits it appears.
-
haha that was a pretty epic early game
-
-
And then we have to abort all our pushes after a single sleight of fist because our early game lineup did not get a any aura items.
-
Yeah. Well, I think we did other things than item choices wrong too, sometimes just drifting off when we could have gone for something, and sometimes overcommitting hard when there was no need to. Notably I am pretty sure we could have wrapped up a push at bot by just orderly going back and 5-man shrining at some points.
e: The easy fix though is to get better items. To some extent why I have taken more and more to NP, the lack of a stun means it is a difficult pick, but you are pretty free to buy some team items and are likely get the gold to do so. SB can also buy almost any items, but has very little ability to farm.
-
I love veno so much though. The ongoing dance of "Oh, you want to fight me? Nah, I'll stroll back while you discuss with my wards" and "Oh, you want to leave? Well, nah, I think I'll fight you really". While people just largely melt away.
-
I'll skip commenting on the last game (loss), but I must say that it was very satisfying in the second to last game doing the lets-all-get-blademails successfully into a Tinker in ranked. Good call by James (iirc).
To the extent we're doing more ranked I am just going to demand going 4-pos first-pick though, I am not sure how we ended up with me trying to outpick as 5-pos the first time we've done ranked in a million years. I am not flexible
-
Stacking blademails is usually one of those theorycrafts that only work in theory.
-
Oh yeah, and I generally dislike Blade Mail as an item on any hero that can't really force the enemy to hit them. That was a perfect game for it though, with a whole enemy team filled with rather squishy heroes with tons of damage (much in an uncontrollable aoe). We also won the game off of the first two blade mails, mine and liams was more to be cute than strictly necessary I think.
-
Ah, the old "allergic to BKB" gaming. Did the blademails win the game, or the lack of brain on mr tinker?
-
While BKB helps we would have had a pretty easy time abusing the cooldown I think, he was not in a state where he could burst any of our cores (supports a different matter, but Veno can die and still contribute to the fight as long as the spells are out, NP can buyback and tp).
-
haha ok well this is was a lost game.... until it wasnt!
-
A game-turning fiends grip no doubt!
